4 Ways to Style Straight Jeans

JCrew petite classic trench coat review

J.Crew Fall arrivals are here with new cuts of cashmere sweaters, an update to their Icon trench coat, and lots of petite-friendly denim in a variety of cuts! I recently picked up these Slim Boyfriend jeans (love the medium wash of these) which have a looser, relaxed fit at the waist and a slim straight cut through the legs. See below and my latest reel video for a few different ways I’d style these jeans!

If you’re looking for jeans that are a closer fit at the waist, I also tried their High Rise 90s Straight Jean and their 90’s Wide Leg Jean which both fit well in 24 Petite with no waist gap on me (the Slim Boyfriend jeans run bigger at the waist). The 90’s straight jeans were very comfortable with a little stretch throughout and hit ankle length on me, while the 90’s wide leg jean were a super flattering and elongating full length style (but not too long – I can still wear these with low / medium height heels), worth trying if you’re looking for something different than straight jeans!

1. Casual // Relaxed sweater + minimalist sandals

This soft cashmere sweater is another one of my classic Fall picks. It’s a basic elevated by the relaxed “boyfriend” cut, featuring subtle dolman sleeves that still fit comfortably under a blazer or jacket, and a banded waist for easy tucking. A lot of the reviews mention the sleeves running short (usually good news for petites), and an XXS turned out to be a perfect full sleeve length on me. This one is easy to throw on over jeans or work pants and is so comfortable throughout the day.

While the last outfit looks great, what kind of weather/event one would wear strappy sandals and buttoned up trench coat???

This is a more crisp / medium weight trench coat in a material that feels like it’d be at least semi water resistant. It’s a tailored fit throughout the shoulders and more straight cut through the torso so you would need to belt it when closed for some shape. My personal preference is a longer length trench, but for those who want knee length, removable hood and petite sizing this is a solid option!

Yes and it’s definitely hit or miss! If it looks very small or above knee length on the model then it might work on petites. If it looks regular to looser fit on the model, then it mostly likely will be too big.

Thank you! I don’t currently have a restock date due to supply chain delays but, if you aren’t already, please sign up for restock notifications as that will be the best way to be updated
