Sézane Boston Store + Summer Try Ons

So many shops have sadly been closing down along Boston’s Newbury street, but there’s a few interesting new additions that include Glossier, A+F, New Balance, and the Sézane pop-up. I got to borrow a few pieces to work on a Boston city guide with them, and wanted to share some fit and fabric details for the pieces I tried on.

If you missed it, here are my previous Sézane reviews on their sweaters, blouses and dresses.

1. Beacon Hill: Nissa Dress (pictured above)

I’m wearing this romantic and petite friendly dress in “vintage blue” and it also comes in a pretty emerald green and white with tan polka dots. It’s double layered yet very floaty and lightweight. The skirt is gently flaring, and functional shoulder ties helps adjust the fit. The size US 2 / FR 34 fit comfortably at my waist and hips (not snug) and had a little room at the upper bust for me.

2. Bay Village: Tomboy Shirt + Rome Shorts

Truly an excellent white shirt. I have worn my Everlane shirt for years and it’s still a lighter weight recommendation I’d stand by, but I can’t get enough of this Sézane Tomboy shirt which has a little more weight and structure. It’s 100% organic cotton with just a bit of texture to the fabric, and the cut from the neckline to the chest pocket is perfectly classic. A 0 is a relaxed fit on me, not too oversized.

The Rome shorts also come in several solids with select colors starting in size 0, and the same floral print is available in a skirt and dress!

I finally got to see the Justine basket bag in person, and it’s a fantastic summer tote option with two functional rotating straps (long and short), plus an attached drawstring liner bag inside! Fingers crossed they’ll restock this one in all the colors.

3. Boston Public Library: Sarah Dress

I’m wearing this dress in “navy polka dots” which I don’t yet see on the site. For Sézane styles that don’t have size 0, I’ve had some luck with wrap style dresses. The fabric on this is a lightweight viscose / silk blend, and the waist wrap helps it better fit different body types. The length is midi on me, hitting at my lower calves. They also have the Horia dress which is a shorter, above the knee version of the Sarah dress and is available in this same “navy / ecru polka dots” print.

4. South End: Gatsby Mariniére stripe tee

5. Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum – Solana Dress

I shared this dress a couple of months ago and was so impressed by the quality and cut, which reminded me of a much more expensive designer piece. The size 2 is loose on me, but as mentioned above, the wrap style helps it adjust a bit to fit.

6. Boston Public Garden – Hilma Dress

This cotton dress is a lot of fabric and is a piece I’d recommend for someone taller instead. It hits knee length on me but the style is intended to be a fun A-line mini. It also has more weight to it than I expected, because the bottom hem is double layered and it’s a pretty full skirt.
