Happy Friday! We’re on a getaway with friends this weekend and are welcoming the sunshine! I wanted to share a few of the petite-friendly dresses I tried on recently, starting with this LBD which was an unexpected winner for me. I usually prefer longer midi dresses to shorter now, but this one turned out to be so flattering from all angles.

1. Staud Landry Mini Dress

The Landry (more colors here) is one of Staud’s signature dresses I’ve been eying for a while now that comes in both a mini and maxi length version. It has corset style bust cups, thin spaghetti tie shoulder straps and a circle style skirt with a light layer of tulle lining to keep its shape. It’s a little flirty, a little feminine, and super cute on.

Size xs fits like a glove on me with stretch since the bodice is smocked all around. I don’t often have luck with bust cups since they’re almost always gaping or too small (cough, Reformation) but something about the shape of these cups work well for me and feels easier to fit! I can wear this dress either braless or with my usual nippies. I read some reviews didn’t like the tulle skirt lining, but for me, it’s not a very voluminous layer and it gives the skirt some structure.

2. Aqua Ruffle Dress

This is a very cute sundress option in a fabric that feels soft against the skin. Xs is a very good fit and hits at a “midaxi” length on me. The dress has a clip dot texture and subtle ruffled layers, and is more gently flowing rather than structured. The bodice is smocked and stretchy with a full back zipper.

3. French Connection Lace Mini Dress

Also at: Nordstrom, French Connection

Another cute, shorter sundress option but the bust area was roomy on me and better suited for someone who can fill it out more. I am LOVING side cutouts since it’s a strategically placed way to show some skin without exposing my belly. Aside from the roomy bust, the overall proportions of this in size 0 was petite friendly on me.

That Aqua sundress is just perfection!
Not a fan of Staud bust cup mini dress. It’s too short a dress to have all that bust-cup corset detail.
